In October 1998 Barry Perratt took photos of every house in the village as reference for drawings by artists John and Sally Wilkinson, who lived at Garretts Farmhouse. Their drawings became a unique record - 'A Portrait of Martin, East Martin and Tidpit in the year 2000AD'.

Mr and Mrs Hacker sold groceries in the village for over fifty years, starting with just a bicycle and stores which they kept in a room at Packbridge Cottage. Fred continued to work into his eighties. There is a poem and photograph on the wall of The Blandford Hall to celebrate their contribution to the village. The house has since been demolished and a new house, called 'Hacker's' in their memory, now stands there.
