- This drawing by William Woodward appeared in the school magazine of the evacuees who were billeted in Martin during the Second World War. The majority of the children came from Arundel Street School in Portsmouth, with their teacher, Mr Jordan, and they were given the Blandford Hall as their schoolroom. Mr Jordan made a yearly magazine of their work to send home to their parents. Their magazines, containing drawings, poems, studies of the village and accounts of outings and sports days, can be seen in this archive.
