Comment
Charles Cooksey was the Southampton agent who found Bustard Manor for the Monks in 1901. When they returned to France during the First World War, to nurse the wounded, he managed the farm for them. At that time the monks were uncertain as to whether they would return, but the rules in France were eased and they were able to remain in their home at Briquebec Abbey. Charles Cooksey was then charged with selling Bustard Farm for the monks, but first the five burials in the monastery graveyard had to be moved to the Catholic Church in Fordingbridge. This was done discreetly, at night.
